THE BAYCATS ARE 2024 DOMINICO CUP CHAMPIONS

Guelph, ON – Mission Complete

The Barrie Baycats have won the 2024 Jack and Lynne Dominico Cup after a 6-2 win against the Guelph Royals in Game Four. They finished the postseason 10-0 and only trailed for two half-innings.

They got the job done behind Playoff MVP Frank Garcés, who pitched eight brilliant innings, surrendering just one run (unearned). After giving up the momentum-shifting home run to Carlos Martinez a season ago, Brad Grieveson got the chance to close it out and did so, prompting a large celebration among players, coaches, volunteers, and all the Baycats fans who came out to Guelph.

Garcés earned the win, his third of the postseason, and his fourth playoff start in which he gave up two runs or less in the 2024 playoffs.

For the Baycats on offence, it was Ryan Rijo who had four hits and two runs batted in, and Brandon Hernandez who had three hits, including a two-run double to kickstart the offence. Nolan Machibroda and Canice Ejoh both had a pair of base hits.

Ejoh caught the final out of the ball game.

Many Baycats fans made the trip to Guelph, resulting in plenty of “Let's Go Baycats” chants. As the game went on, the Baycats fans went back and forth with chants against the Royals fans, creating a lively atmosphere for those in attendance at Hastings Stadium.

Baycats win 6-2.

Stay tuned for plenty of championship posts on the Baycats' social media channels.
