BAYCATS ANNOUNCE MANAGER FOR 22U JUNIOR TEAM

Barrie, ON – The Barrie Baycats are excited to announce that Jeremy Uylenbroek will be the head coach for the U22 Barrie Junior Baycats for the 2025 season. Uylenbroek has been on the IBL Baycats coaching staff for the past two seasons and will add the role of leading the 22U Baycats for their Inaugural season.

“I am very pleased, humbled and excited to become The Barrie Baycats Jr teams Head Coach for its inaugural season this summer,” said Uylenbroek. “Baseball has always been a big part of my life and I am certainly going to enjoy a little more of it with this team.”

With nine seasons playing in the IBL and a part of the inaugural 2001 Barrie Baycats, Uylenbroek has plenty of baseball experience. He also spent time coaching for the Titans of the Canadian Premier Baseball League.

“With Jeremy’s extensive baseball knowledge and experience working with kids as well as his understanding for our organization’s culture we felt he was a perfect candidate and an easy hire for the Head Coaching role of the 22U Junior Baycats,” said Baycats president Josh Matlow. “Jeremy is a huge advocate of youth baseball and extremely dedicated to our organization’s growth and goals both on and off the field.”

Along with his new role as 22U head coach, Uylenbroek will remain with the IBL club as announced in October. The former player himself is excited to have the opportunity to grow the next generation of young talent.

“As a former player and current coach of the IBL Baycats, the opportunity to see the team grow and develop from the ground up is priceless to me,” he said. “These Jr years meant a lot to me so to have some impact now for these players is amazing. I hope that some of these players can one day also be in this situation and continue the Baycats culture and traditions. GO BAYCATS GO!”

The 22U Barrie Junior Baycats held an open tryout on Saturday, December 21st and are expected to start announcing players via social media in the coming weeks. Follow the 22U Baycats @barriejrbaycats.
